El Niño with 80% probability this summer / UN warns: extreme weather is expected to increase globally

According to the organization’s experts, the development of this phenomenon is linked to unusual warming of tropical Pacific Ocean waters and is expected to influence various climate patterns across many regions of the world, bringing above-average temperatures and noticeable fluctuations in atmospheric conditions.

El Niño is seen as a factor that could directly affect the travel sector as well, where extreme weather is increasingly becoming part of tourists’ decision-making.

Climate changes associated with it include intense heatwaves, increased risk of forest fires, and more unstable rainfall conditions in certain areas, which is affecting how people plan their summer holidays.

A recently published study on traveler behavior shows that bad weather ranks as one of the main concerns after travel costs, while more than half of respondents have postponed or changed their plans due to uncertainty in weather conditions.

Experts estimate that if El Niño develops as predicted, it could bring significant impacts across many regions of the globe during the summer, making weather an increasingly decisive factor in everyday life and tourism.
