February 6th also marks the 99th anniversary of the birth of the Korça actor Spiro Karanxha. Tribute and respect for his figure. Spiro Karanxha was born on February 6, 1926, and passed away in 2000.

Spiro Karanxha was born on February 6, 1926. Passionate about art, he became involved with amateur theater groups while still in school after the liberation. Director Dhimiter Trajçe attracted him to the theater group at the Palace of Culture in the city, where he was active in several premieres of this group.

In June 1950, when the professional theater was created, Spiro Karanxha was appointed a half-professional actor in this troupe, which was considered as a stage or trial to become a professional actor. With his roles and contributions, Spiro Karanxha completed this stage and became a professional actor.

Since the creation of the theater, he played roles such as: Marine Sergeant in the drama “The Overthrow”; Fifth Soldier in the play “The Voice of America” by Lavriev;

Selimi in the play “The Girl from the Village” by F. Gjatës; The Young Man in the comedy “Who’s to Blame?” by Mdivani; Kleanthi in the comedy “The Imaginary Invalid” by Molière; Grishenko in the drama “Tanya” by Arbuzov; Pashuku in the comedy “Engagement in Confusion” by S. Vaqarri; Niko in the drama “The Flower of Memory” by F. Postoli; Peasant in the drama “Great Love” by F. Gjatës; Servant in the drama “Volpone” by B. Jonson; Arkardi in the drama “A Tragic Event” by Hollander; Marseli in the drama “In Geneva” by S. Vaqarri;

Greek Officer in the drama “For the Defense of the Homeland” by F. Postoli; Oktavi in the comedy “The Liar” by Goldoni; Veliu in the comedy “The Island of Peace” by J. Petras; Author in the comedy “Mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, and others” by Korostelov; Libi in the drama “Foreign Hearth” by N. Luces; Father Kozmai in the drama “The Baptismal Grave” by N. Spiro Karanxha also performed roles in operettas, such as Lani in the operetta “Dawn” by K. Kanos and Viktori in the operetta “The Golden Valley” by Dunajevski.

After performing these roles in the premieres of the theater troupe, in 1976, he transitioned to the Professional Estrada Troupe, where he ended his career on the Korça stage after retiring in 1997. For his merits and contributions to professional theater and the Estrada Troupe, he was honored with the title “Merited Artist” in 1985.

Spiro Karanxha was also involved in several feature films, with notable roles such as Karapanos in the 1976 film “The Confrontation,” written by Teodor Laçco and directed by Viktor Gjika, “Following the Footsteps” (1978), and “With the Steps of Friends” (1979). He passed away in 2000.
