From today, January 1, 2026, the increase of the minimum wage to 50,000 lekë comes into force.

The rise in the minimum wage reflects the continuation of policies aimed at gradually increasing incomes and protecting employees.

In recent years, the minimum wage has followed a steady upward trend, in response to the rising cost of living and the need to strengthen social welfare.

From 24,000 lekë in 2017, through continuous increases over the years, the minimum wage reaches 50,000 lekë in 2026, marking a significant improvement compared to previous years.

Approximately 308,000 employees in both the public and private sectors are expected to benefit from this increase.

The government’s medium-term forecast is to raise the minimum wage to 60,000 lekë in 2028 and to 70,000 lekë by the end of the mandate.
