The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, firmly stated that a ban on all arms sales to Israel will never be his stance. In a session in the Commons, he expressed, “If arms sales for defensive use by Israel were to be banned, that is a position I could not support a year after October 7.” He emphasized that such a stance is untenable in light of ongoing attacks from Iran.

Starmer highlighted the recent escalation, noting that the House witnessed a significant number of rockets fired into Israel just a day before. He argued that supporting Israel’s right to self-defense while simultaneously depriving it of the means to defend itself is contradictory. Starmer concluded that this inconsistency will never align with his position, reaffirming his commitment to ensuring Israel has the resources necessary for its defense amidst ongoing regional threats.
