A strong heatwave is expected to strike Italy and the surrounding region, including Albania, during the upcoming week. According to meteorological data, a powerful anticyclone will position itself over the Italian Peninsula, bringing a significant rise in temperatures from the south to the north of the country.
Forecasts indicate that the extreme heat will not be limited to Italy but will also spread across the Western Balkans, including Albania, where temperatures are expected to surpass seasonal averages.
Scorching weather will cover almost the entire territory, with only alpine areas and higher elevations experiencing relatively cooler conditions.
Meteorologists warn that temperatures in some Albanian cities—especially in lowland and coastal areas—could exceed 35°C in the coming days.
Authorities advise special caution for groups sensitive to heat, such as the elderly and children, and recommend avoiding prolonged sun exposure during peak hours.
Heatwaves like the one expected are becoming increasingly frequent due to climate change, making it essential for citizens and institutions to take appropriate protective measures.
