Kapshticë / 48-year-old arrested in the act while attempting to smuggle goods into Albania

The services of the Local Directorate for Border and Migration in Korçë have intensified checks along the green border and at border crossing points, aiming to prevent and combat illegal activities.

As a result of these controls, at the Kapshticë Border Crossing Point, the Border Police stopped for detailed inspection a vehicle driven by citizen S. L., 48 years old, residing in the village of Plug, Lushnjë.

During the inspection, 32 packs of cigarettes and several food products were found hidden in the vehicle. It is suspected that the citizen was attempting to illegally bring these goods into Albanian territory without declaring them according to legal procedures.

At the conclusion of procedural actions, specialists from the Crime Investigation Unit at the Local Directorate for Border and Migration in Korçë arrested citizen S. L. in flagrante delicto for the criminal offense of “Smuggling of excise goods.”

The seized goods were confiscated as material evidence.

The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Korçë for further action.
