Kyrgyzstan bans face coverings in public places

The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, has signed a law prohibiting citizens from wearing clothing that covers the face in public places.

Furthermore, the new law bans the practice of religion and religious ceremonies in nursing homes, prisons, and military units.

Kyrgyzstan also restricts the distribution of religious literature in public places and educational institutions. Moreover, the establishment of political parties on religious grounds is also prohibited. Violations of these rules will result in a fine of 20,000 soms ($228.70).
