A 47-year-old Albanian man has been arrested after allegedly extorting €4,000 from a Greek citizen over a three-year period.
Kristi Joga reportedly obtained the money by threatening to publish private conversations, photos, and videos of the victim.
Using the same scheme, Joga is also suspected of extorting other individuals of Greek origin, obtaining significant sums ranging from €30,000 to €40,000.
Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in this criminal scheme.
Police statement:
The operation, codenamed “Blackmail,” was carried out by the Economic and Financial Crimes Investigation Section of Korçë, following four months of proactive investigation.
Joga, 47, residing in Korçë, was arrested for the criminal offenses of “Coercion by threat or force for the surrender of property” and “Fraud.”
Investigations indicate that over a three-year period, through blackmail involving the publication of private messages and intimate photos, Joga obtained around €4,000 from one Greek citizen. He is also suspected of using the same method to extort other Greek nationals, with amounts ranging between €30,000 and €40,000.
Authorities continue efforts to identify and bring other participants in this criminal activity to justice.
Case materials have been referred to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Korçë First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction for further legal action.
