A serious incident occurred in Sarandë, where a police officer was assaulted on Thursday evening.

The incident reportedly took place in Neighborhood No. 3 of the city, where Mihal Velço, a crime officer with the Sarandë Police Station, was attacked by several individuals.

Velço was riding his motorcycle when he was first verbally abused and then threatened by a group of people.

He then got off his motorcycle, and a physical confrontation broke out. The circumstances of the incident remain unclear, but preliminary information suggests it was a spontaneous altercation rather than a premeditated attack.

Immediately after the incident was reported, large numbers of police officers launched an operation across the city of Sarandë that continued into the early hours of the morning. Homes, bars, and public areas were searched, and several individuals were brought in for questioning. So far, there is no information regarding the arrest of the suspected attackers, while authorities continue to investigate the case.
