Naum Veqilharxhi is regarded as the first ideologue of the Albanian National Renaissance, a distinguished thinker, illuminist, and advocate for Albanian education.

His first primer, written and published in 1844 after nearly two decades of effort, was titled “Evëtar.” Through this work, Veqilharxhi laid the foundation for Albanian language education and culture.

In addition to his educational contributions, he sought to establish a cultural society and unite other patriots for the national cause. Tragically, these efforts led to his poisoning in Istanbul in 1846.

With his work, Naum Veqilharxhi became a pivotal figure, symbolizing a significant turning point in the history of the Albanian people.
