The elections in the branch of the Democratic Party of Albania in Korçë were interrupted just minutes after the voting process began, due to problems with the membership lists.

The process, which was expected to run normally as part of the party’s internal elections, immediately faced objections from members. According to on-the-ground sources, some voters could not find their names on the list, while others raised concerns about inaccuracies and inconsistencies in the membership records.

This situation created tension and uncertainty about the legitimacy of the vote, forcing the responsible commission to intervene and decide on the immediate suspension of the process. The aim of this decision was to avoid escalation and to ensure a more orderly and acceptable process for all parties.

Sources from the local branch say that a full verification of the membership lists will be carried out to identify the problems and make the necessary corrections. Only after this process is completed is a decision expected on whether to restart or postpone the elections.

The event in Korçë once again highlights the importance of transparency and accuracy in membership lists in internal party processes, which are essential for the credibility and legitimacy of any vote.
