A former soldier accused of killing the wife and two daughters of a BBC journalist has changed his statement, admitting to the crime. Kyle Clifford, 26, had previously denied stabbing Carol Hunt, 61, the wife of BBC 5 Live commentator John Hunt, and shooting dead Louise Hunt, 25, and Hannah Hunt, 28, with a bow. However, Clifford, the ex-boyfriend of Louise Hunt and a former member of the Queen’s Dragoon Guards, made an unplanned appearance at Cambridge Crown Court on Wednesday morning and changed his plea to guilty. He appeared in court via video link from prison in a wheelchair after injuring himself in a suicide attempt following his outburst. In an earlier appearance, the court was told that Clifford had visited the house in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on July 9 of last year, armed with an MXT-405 bow and a butcher’s knife. Hannah Hunt called the police and told them she was afraid she would die before giving them the address.
