The Albanian Cup men’s volleyball match between Tirana and Skënderbeu has just concluded in the capital, with Tirana claiming a hard-fought 3-2 victory in a marathon match that lasted five sets. Despite this loss, Skënderbeu remains at the top of the group, tied on points with Tirana at 11 each, highlighting the balance within Group B.

Match Overview:

  • First Set:The set began with a 1-1 tie, but Tirana quickly took the lead at 4-2, 8-3, and 12-8, maintaining a comfortable margin. Skënderbeu tried to close the gap, reaching 15-12, but Tirana stayed ahead, closing the set 25-22 and taking a 1-0 lead in sets.

  • Second Set:Skënderbeu turned the tide in the second set, leading 4-7, 6-10, and extending their advantage to 14-21 before sealing the set 18-25. The match was now tied at 1-1.

  • Third Set:This set saw constant back-and-forth action, with ties at 3-3, 9-9, 12-12, and 17-17. However, Tirana gained the upper hand in the closing moments, winning 25-21 after a grueling 28 minutes. Tirana led 2-1 in sets.

  • Fourth Set:The fourth set mirrored the competitive spirit of the match, with ties at 3-3, 8-8, and 15-15. It came down to the wire at 24-24, but Skënderbeu secured the final two points to win 24-26, leveling the match at 2-2 in sets.

  • Fifth Set:The decisive set saw Tirana surge ahead 5-1. Skënderbeu narrowed the gap to 7-6 and eventually tied at 7-7 with four consecutive points. However, Tirana regained momentum, taking a 10-7 lead and eventually winning 15-11 to clinch the match 3-2.

Standings:

Despite their defeat, Skënderbeu leads Group B with 11 points, tied with Tirana, showcasing the competitive nature of the group.
