Skënderbeu-Vllaznia 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-23)

Skënderbeu in men’s volleyball quickly bounced back to victory after a 3-2 loss last week in the capital against Tirana. Today, the white and reds defeated Vllaznia 3-0 in a match that had no story from start to finish, a game valid for the Albanian Cup.

The first set of the match started with a quick 4-0 lead for the hosts. It went 6-2 and then 11-5, which gave the Korça team, coached by Arben Prifti, a comfortable lead. The score went to 13-9, 15-11, and 20-16, with the first set ending 25-22, making it 1-0.

In contrast to the first, the second set started with an advantage for the visitors, 2-4, but Skënderbeu woke up and reversed the score to 9-5. From here, the white and reds didn’t let go of their lead, moving ahead 15-9, 19-11, and 22-14, before closing the set 25-16, taking the overall score to 2-0.

The third and final set started well for Skënderbeu, leading 5-1, and later 10-6. However, Vllaznia responded, leveling the score at 13-13 after several rallies. The Shkodran team even led at moments 16-18, 20-21, but Skënderbeu answered back, regaining the points and ultimately winning 25-23 to secure the 3-0 victory.

A beautiful win that shows Skënderbeu will be a worthy rival, perhaps even for the championship title, even though today’s win was only for the Albanian Cup.
