Not only in Tirana. For several days, protests have also been taking place in Korçë.
One of the most emotional moments of the protest held in Korçë yesterday was the speech of a 12-year-old girl, who addressed citizens with a message about the future of her generation.
“You may be thinking I am too young to be here.
That may be true, but I am not too young to understand what is happening around me, how this land, for which our ancestors fought, is being sold without a second thought.
I am 12 years old, I want to dream about my school and fulfill my dreams, but it is very difficult for me, because I am thinking about all the things that worry my family and many Albanian families. I see young people stressed about the economic situation, elderly people with tears in their eyes from missing their children.
It hurts me a lot when I see my excellent sister who will go abroad. I love Albania and I want to live here. I really want to be educated here, and for my parents to have a job.
We are the children of this country, the future of Albania. Give us reasons to stay, to learn and to dream without the fear that we will be driven out of our own country. I will not be afraid, because fear is what is driving us away from this country,” she said.
