75 kg of marijuana seized near the Greek-Albanian border

Around 75 kg of cannabis have been seized by the Greek police in the Igoumenitsa region, near the Greek-Albanian border. The operation took place yesterday afternoon by the anti-drug unit of the Igoumenitsa Police.

During the inspection of a vehicle coming from the green border and attempting to enter Greek territory, authorities found and confiscated three bags containing 51 packages with 74.804 kg of marijuana. A vehicle and a mobile phone were also seized.

The driver, a 54-year-old Albanian, was arrested by the police.

Since September, the Greek police have seized around 775 kg of marijuana suspected to have come from Albania. These cases have been recorded in Igoumenitsa via land and sea routes, as well as in Ioannina, Thessaloniki, and Kastoria.
