A serious incident has been reported in France, where an Albanian woman was found dead in her apartment.

A tragic event has shocked the city of Besançon, France, where a 36-year-old Albanian woman was found without signs of life in her home. French police have arrested her husband, who is suspected of involvement in the case.

The 50-year-old was not unknown to the authorities, as he reportedly had prior records for domestic violence against the victim. However, there was no restraining order in place preventing him from contacting her.

According to French media, it was the 50-year-old himself who alerted emergency services, accompanied by his daughter. He is considered the last person to have seen the 36-year-old alive and has denied any involvement in her death.

Initial investigations indicate that the victim showed signs of asphyxiation syndrome. According to the Besançon prosecutor’s office, this could have been caused “either by ingestion of medication or by the intervention of a third person.”

A murder investigation has been opened, but at this stage investigators say there is still insufficient evidence to confirm a femicide theory. No signs of struggle, blood traces, or visible injuries were found in the apartment, except for a small mark on the victim’s neck, which is not yet considered conclusive.

An autopsy and toxicology tests, scheduled for today, are expected to shed more light on the cause of death. The couple, originally from Kosovo and Albania, had several children together. The identities of the victim and her husband have not yet been officially disclosed.
