Porsche has officially dropped two models. With the arrival of the updated electric Taycan for 2027, the carmaker is discontinuing production of the Taycan Sport Turismo and Taycan Cross Turismo.

Taycan sales peaked in the United States in 2023, when Porsche sold 7,570 electric vehicles, but they have been declining since then.

Porsche sold 4,747 Taycan units in 2024 and 4,142 in 2025. Taycan sales so far this year have also fallen, with Porsche selling 607 cars in the first three months of the year compared to 1,019 sold at the start of 2025.

Porsche may also have to suspend its electric 718 Cayman and Boxster projects.

The carmaker has a new CEO who took office on January 1, 2026, and is reportedly reviewing the suspension of development of the two sports cars. According to Bloomberg, people familiar with the matter said that rising costs of the electric 718 and increasing development delays are hindering the project.

Porsche ended production of the previous-generation 718 in October, with plans to launch the electric versions later this year. Rumors of possible development issues emerged in December 2024, when a report quoted an engineer saying the carmaker was “very behind schedule” with the vehicle.
