Apple: OpenAI stole trade secrets and information

The lawsuit, filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, marks an escalation of tensions between the well-known technology company and the developer of ChatGPT, an AI-based virtual assistant system.

One thing is certain: at every level, from technical staff members to the hardware manager and in coordination with business partners, OpenAI stole trade secrets and confidential information from Apple, the company stated in a legal filing.

Specifically, the civil lawsuit accuses OpenAI hardware manager Tang Tan and technical staff member Chang Liu of stealing Apple’s confidential information through various methods. Both are former Apple employees who moved to OpenAI.
