Argentina begin as champions, a historic night for Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi has made an outstanding start to the FIFA World Cup.
The football superstar scored a hat-trick in Argentina’s victory over Algeria. Argentina won 3-0 in the match played on Wednesday morning. The game took place in Kansas City and was part of Group J.
Messi opened the scoring with a stunning goal in the 17th minute to make it 1-0. He then added two more goals for what was one of the finest nights of his remarkable career. He scored the second in the 60th minute and completed his hat-trick in the 76th minute. It was his first-ever World Cup hat-trick, in what is his sixth appearance at the tournament.
Messi left the field in the 80th minute and was applauded by the crowd, receiving a standing ovation and loud chants from the fans.
It was his 200th match for Argentina, and he now has 120 international goals.
At World Cups, Messi now has 16 goals. He shares the record for the most World Cup goals with German striker Miroslav Klose.
However, this is only the beginning for the Argentine phenomenon. With Messi on the pitch, Argentina is aiming to successfully defend its world title.
