Banknotes rain from a fruit truck, drivers stop to collect them, while the driver doesn’t notice

An unusual and somewhat surreal scene was witnessed by several drivers late Thursday morning.

Around 11:00 a.m., on the southern ring road of Squinzano (Lecce), hundreds of banknotes, mostly five-euro bills, suddenly fell from a moving truck, scattering across the asphalt and along the sides of the road.

Drivers traveling at the time were faced with an undoubtedly unusual sight: banknotes flying through the air and landing on the road. Within moments, some drivers slowed down and stopped to see what was happening.

The rush to collect the money

Some drivers got out of their cars and started picking up the scattered cash, while others simply watched the scene in amazement. For several minutes, the ring road turned into an unusual chaos of people moving between stopped vehicles and banknotes scattered across the asphalt.

It remains unclear where the money came from and whether the truck driver noticed the loss during the journey. Further investigations may be launched to reconstruct the exact circumstances and determine the origin of the banknotes.
