Breaking News: Daylight saving time will no longer change!

The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a bill aimed at making daylight saving time permanent, ending the practice of changing clocks twice a year. The measure passed with 308 votes in favor and 117 against and will now move to the Senate, where it remains uncertain whether it will receive the required support.

The bill, known as the “Sunshine Protection Act,” proposes that Americans remain on daylight saving time throughout the entire year. Supporters argue that this would provide more hours of daylight in the afternoon, benefit economic activities, and avoid the disruptions caused by clock changes to sleep patterns and daily routines.

President Donald Trump has supported the initiative, having long criticized the twice-yearly time change. He has stated that the practice costs citizens, businesses, and institutions unnecessary time and money.

However, opponents warn of other consequences. Representatives from agricultural areas say that permanent daylight saving time could lead to darker mornings during the winter, creating difficulties for farmers and students who start their day early. Some health experts also support keeping standard time, arguing that it aligns better with the body's natural rhythm.

The debate over eliminating the time change has continued for years in the United States. In 2022, the Senate approved a similar bill, but it failed to pass in the House of Representatives.

Currently, 19 U.S. states have approved measures to adopt permanent daylight saving time if Congress gives its approval. However, the final decision depends on the Senate vote and the president’s signature.
