EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato visits Korça, highlights strong cooperation and future opportunities

As part of the Europe Week 2025 celebrations, the EU Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, paid a visit to the city of Korçë and met with the Mayor, Sotiraq Filo. With 70% of EU legislation already implemented at the local level, the ambassador emphasized the importance of further involving municipalities and allocating additional resources to support them.

The visit served as a productive opportunity to review past successful collaborations in areas such as innovation, education, and tourism. The discussions also focused on exploring new ways for the EU to support Korçë through future funded projects, especially as the city aims to play a key role in the implementation of the EU Growth Plan and Reform Agenda.

“There is great potential in Korçë, both in sustainable tourism and digital development,” said Ambassador Gonzato. “I came to discuss with the mayor how we can best support the city’s efforts to enhance its appeal and create opportunities for its talented youth. I also encouraged the municipality to fully leverage the EU integration process and praised its ongoing investments in the EU partnership.”

The visit reinforced the EU’s commitment to Korçë as a valuable local partner on Albania’s path toward European integration.
