More than a month has passed since the start of preparations for the new season, but Skënderbeu’s top scorer from last season, Egyptian striker Saleh Nasr, has still not joined the team in training.
The forward remains in waiting for the approval of his visa from the Albanian authorities, a procedure that is currently delaying his return to Korçë. Club officials and the technical staff confirm that the player is ready to return, but the only obstacle is bureaucratic.
Albania’s visa system for foreign citizens has operated for several years through the online “e-Visa” platform, where applications are submitted electronically rather than through consulates or embassies.
Delays in such cases are often related to the high volume of applications from citizens seeking entry into Albania for work, tourism, residence, or family reunification purposes. This category also includes foreign athletes who play for Albanian clubs.
According to information from the Korçë club, the expectation is that Saleh Nasr will join the squad next week, allowing him to begin preparations alongside the rest of the team.
Meanwhile, his case has once again brought attention to the need to simplify procedures for professional athletes, who have clearly defined deadlines for preparation and sporting activities.
