Fewer foreign players in the Second Division, a decision with two sides to the coin

Significant changes have also been made in the Second Division regarding the number of foreign players that teams are allowed to field.

Last season, teams were permitted to field up to five foreign players, while this season the number has been reduced to just three foreign players in the lineup.

This change can be viewed from two sides. On the one hand, it gives domestic players more opportunities to feature and gain playing time in the Second Division.

On the other hand, many teams may face difficulties due to the challenge of finding enough local players to complete their squads. This could be even more difficult for teams from smaller cities, which often struggle more to recruit domestic players.

Therefore, the reduction from five to three foreign players is expected to have a direct impact on the transfer market and on how Second Division teams build their squads for the new season.
