Police have identified the first four bodies of those who died in a bar near a Swiss ski resort on New Year’s Eve.
The bodies of two Swiss girls, aged 21 and 16, and two Swiss boys, aged 18 and 16, have been returned to their families, police said.
The work of officers and the Forensic Medicine Institute made the identifications possible, according to a statement from the Valais cantonal police, and efforts to identify the remaining victims continue.
The fire at Le Constellation in Crans-Montana killed 40 people and injured 119 others, officials said.
With many of the injured now identified, families are facing a waiting period for information regarding those who are still considered missing.
