From 5 to 32 million followers, the stars with the biggest Instagram growth during the World Cup in the USA

Beyond the football pitch, the millions earned by the stars of the World Cup in the United States multiplied on social media as well.

Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha was undoubtedly the biggest winner on Instagram during the World Cup, rising from 30,000 followers to nearly 30 million.

The 40-year-old goalkeeper and his national team were one of the tournament’s biggest success stories after reaching the round of 32.

Cape Verde remained unbeaten in the group stage, opening the tournament with a goalless draw against Spain, before suffering a narrow 3-2 extra-time defeat against Argentina in the knockout stage.

Vozinha’s outstanding performances earned him a place in the Team of the Tournament, while his inspiring story resonated with fans around the world.

His followers increased by a staggering 97,900 percent, and he now has 29.4 million followers. However, surprisingly, this was not the biggest overall increase, as Norway’s Erling Haaland gained 32.1 million followers, reaching a total of 72.7 million.

Haaland was an extremely popular figure among fans throughout the tournament thanks to his funny personality and excellent sense of humor.

He excited fans at the World Cup after leading Norway’s “Viking Row” celebration following their victory over Brazil to reach the quarter-finals, wearing a traditional Viking hat and beating a drum.

Haaland and Vozinha topped the Instagram growth rankings, followed by England star Jude Bellingham, whose follower count increased by 12 million, rising from 41.3 million to 53.3 million.

Bellingham was England’s best player at the tournament, as his seven goals helped the team reach the semi-finals.

Cristiano Ronaldo also saw an increase in followers, despite already having 665.6 million before the tournament began. He now has 677 million.

World Cup winner Lamine Yamal experienced a similar rise, with his total increasing by 11 million to 54.3 million, while runner-up Lionel Messi gained 7.5 million followers, rising from 506.5 million to 514 million.

Mexico’s teenage star Gilberto Mora also enjoyed a surge in popularity, going from 1.1 million followers to 7.7 million.

French forward Michael Olise continued his rise in popularity with an additional 5.7 million followers, reaching a total of 10.9 million.

Even Real Madrid’s disappointment, Endrick, saw his follower count rise from 18.3 million to 23.9 million, despite not starting a single match for Brazil.
