The new “Abissnet Superiore 2026-2027” season kicks off on August 21, with a series of new features aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the championship, creating more opportunities for young talents, and bringing an even better organization to the competition.
A new format for the championship
The “Abissnet Superiore” will be played in three regular phases, with a total of 27 matchweeks. After their completion, the teams will be divided into two groups, with the top six continuing the competition in the play-offs, while the bottom four will play in the play-outs. The points accumulated during the regular phase will be halved before these stages begin.
The new format aims to keep the competition open and competitive until the final weeks, both for the championship title and for survival.
More opportunities for young talents
Another important change is the mandatory activation of young footballers. In the “Abissnet Superiore” and the Albanian Cup, each team will be required to start at least one player born in 2007 or later, holding an Albanian passport, and play them for at least one half.
This rule aims to create more opportunities for young Albanian talents and contribute to the development of the next generation of footballers.
New schedule, more efficient organization
Matches will be played in four time slots: 13:30, 16:00, 18:30 and 21:00. The new structure aims to optimize the competition calendar and create better conditions for clubs, players, broadcasters and fans.
The club closer to the community
The “Club in the Community” initiative will also continue in the new season, through which the Albanian Football Federation (FSHF) aims to strengthen the connection between clubs and fans, families, young people and local communities.
With a new format, more opportunities for young players, improved organization and a stronger focus on the community, the “Abissnet Superiore” begins a new season of development and competition.
