Iran continues to remain one of the countries with the lowest fuel prices in the world, thanks to strong government subsidy policies. According to the latest data, the price of diesel in the country ranges from around 300 to 600 rials per liter, which translates to only 0.005 to 0.01 euros per liter, reports Gazeta Minuti.

These levels are much lower compared to European countries, where fuel prices usually range from 1.5 to 2 euros per liter. The large difference has made Iran considered one of the cheapest countries for fuel supply.

Gasoline in Iran also remains extremely affordable. With government subsidies, it costs about 0.02 to 0.03 euros per liter, while beyond the designated quotas, the price can reach up to 0.05 euros per liter, according to Gazeta Minuti.

However, the fuel supply system in Iran operates through a quota scheme for local citizens, who are issued special cards to benefit from subsidized prices. For foreigners, in some cases, the price may be slightly higher but still remains much cheaper compared to international standards.

These low prices are the result of the country’s large oil reserves and economic policies aimed at keeping the cost of living more affordable for citizens. However, experts often warn that high subsidies can have an impact on the long-term economy and lead to excessive fuel consumption.
