“For the first time, young women are consuming more alcohol than men.” A study by the American Medical Association in the U.S. reached this conclusion.

According to the data, women aged 18-25 have surpassed men in alcohol consumption during the period 2021-2023.

Studies also show that women are more likely to drink to cope with stress, a behavior linked to a higher risk of alcohol use disorders.

What about the situation in Albania? Are Albanian women following this trend of increased alcohol consumption?

Guests on the TV show “Ftesë në 5” responded that this trend is indeed starting in Albania:

“Women have lost complexes and prejudices. Times have changed, women are no longer judged as they were before. They are freer. Also, economic independence helps.”

Xhani Demnika, a VIP manager, answered “yes” and shared his personal story:

“It happened once that I got drunk. I was out, just having fun. I don’t remember the details. A young Albanian girl took my hand; we were in a car, then went to a house. Everything was recorded on video because I was drunk. I remember images, but not locations or streets. When I woke up, I was with someone I didn’t know. I asked, ‘Wait, how do we know each other?’ She said, ‘We’ve known each other for a while.’ I didn’t know her at all. We kept in touch and today we are friends.”
