Moderator Hygerta Sako reacted publicly after the recent debate in the studio with coach Edi Martini, giving her version of the situation and clarifying that the conflict between them has deeper roots.

In her statement, Sako emphasizes that she had no intention of speaking out, but felt compelled to respond after statements she considers offensive and unethical toward her.

According to her, everything started in 2021 during the organization of the “Best of the Year” event by RTSH Sport, when Martini, she claims, was dissatisfied with the voting result for the best coach.

“The voting was transparent, conducted by seven well-known football specialists, the majority of whom chose Thomas Brdaric as the best coach. I was only the moderator and had no role in the decision-making,” she explains.

Sako claims that since that time, Martini has held a negative attitude toward her, not holding back insults in the professional environment.

“Even though this happened, I have always treated him with respect in every television appearance, maintaining professional ethics,” she adds.

Referring to the latest incident, the moderator emphasizes that Martini began the interview with unjustified irony and then reacted unethically to a professional question.

“A coach cannot behave unethically toward journalists and then claim to be offended,” Sako states, adding that Martini has been sanctioned several times by the Disciplinary Commission for inappropriate behavior.

At the end of her statement, she expresses respect for the city of Shkodër and the Vllaznia club, but calls on the club’s management to reflect on their coach’s public behavior.

“I have worked for 12 years to give this team the recognition it deserves. Before statements are made about me, the coach’s behavior should be examined,” Sako concludes.
