The Executive Committee of the AFF is expected to decide next week whether the Final Four will be abolished or not. There is a strong possibility that, after three years of experimentation, this format will come to an end.

AFF President Armand Duka himself spoke at the end of the Final Four, confirming that a decision will be made by June 15. Meanwhile, the possibility of a new format has not been ruled out. President Duka mentioned the option of a “play-off,” which would create a separation of teams competing for different objectives at a certain point in the season.

“For the next edition, it is impossible to change the number of teams because it is not allowed by AFF regulations and competition rules in general. As for the formats, that is something we need to discuss. The fact that we may return to another decision regarding the ‘Final Four’ is because it seems that fans from other cities find it difficult to travel to Tirana to support their teams.

Attendance at the Final Four has not been satisfactory. Fan turnout was also affected by the absence of Tirana and Partizani, which would have created a better atmosphere at ‘Air Albania’. For the next edition, we will review what format we will have. This decision will be made within the first 15 days of June.

Change? Impossible for the 2026/27 season there will be 10 teams. Whether there will be four rounds or a play-off system, we have hired a specialized company that has worked on the Champions League format and future national team formats. We will review all versions and make a decision in the Executive Committee,” said President Duka.
