Kimi Antonelli made history in the latest Formula One qualifying session, securing his first career pole position and becoming the youngest driver ever to achieve such a milestone. Despite this historic moment, the Italian talent said his focus is already on Sunday’s race.
“It was a very clean session and I’m very happy,” Antonelli said after qualifying. He emphasized that he is excited to start from first position in tomorrow’s race, noting that he stayed calm throughout the session, even though he was aware of an issue his teammate, George Russell, had faced.
The qualifying session was not without challenges. The Italian driver admitted he encountered balance issues with the car during his laps and even asked the team over the radio if something might have broken. Despite this, he managed the situation and set the fastest time.
“I want to enjoy this moment, but not too much, because I am already focused on tomorrow. Getting pole position is great, but you need to finish the race well,” Antonelli said.
The young Italian driver also expressed his desire to bring Italy back to the top of the podium in Formula One, aiming to turn his qualifying success into a major race result.
