The singer Elsa Lila gave an emotional and powerful confession in an interview with Grida Duma.

For the first time, she revealed how she received the news of her mother’s murder in 1997, just five months after leaving Albania on the Italian embassy’s helicopter.

“Italy was my first prison. They didn’t allow me to return; the borders were closed. I just wanted to see my mother, but I couldn’t. When I returned in October, I only saw a gravestone,” she recounted.

Even today, after many years, Elsa says her mind still hasn’t accepted the loss: “I imagine she’s somewhere, on another continent, living her life,” the singer expressed.

Elsa Lila also describes her experiences during her months facing Italian justice in her book “Welcome to Rebibbia.”
