A criminal gang has robbed a van transporting 2 million euros. This is the third case of its kind, showing that the robbers are increasingly using organized and dangerous methods to delay the police.
An armed robbery took place on Monday morning on a highway in Italy, during which the criminal group managed to seize around 2 million euros.
At around 6:30 a.m., they blocked the armored vehicle while it was moving inside a tunnel between the Scilla and Bagnara junctions.
During the robbery, the attackers fired several shots, but no one was injured.
According to initial information, they had placed several cars in a cross formation on the roadway, which they set on fire immediately after completing their operation.
The robbers had also scattered spike strips on the asphalt to prevent any possibility of the vehicle escaping.
The incident caused major traffic problems on the highway, while investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible. This is not the only robbery of this kind in Italy.
On March 27, 2025, another cash van was attacked while traveling along “statale 655” in the area of Candela, Foggia province. The initial amount stolen was believed to be over 400,000 euros.
Another incident occurred on October 27, 2025, at around 18:00, when a seven‑person commando attempted to rob two vans passing through the province of Macerata.
However, the attempt failed, and the robbers did not manage to steal the money. Criminals are increasingly using a very dangerous method: completely blocking the highway to delay the arrival of the police.
This organized tactic creates a major challenge for law enforcement, which must manage both the traffic chaos and the intervention against armed gangs.
