About 110 kg of marijuana have been seized near the Greek–Albanian border.

The operation took place in a border area of Igoumenitsa, Greece. Greek police stopped a vehicle that is suspected to have been loaded at the “green border” (an informal crossing point).

Inside the vehicle, 102 packages containing 109 kg and 364 grams of marijuana were found and confiscated. The drug packages were placed in the back seats and in the trunk of the vehicle.

A 43-year-old Turkish citizen was arrested by Greek police, while investigations are ongoing to identify accomplices.

Since September 2025, Greek police have seized over 1.1 tons of drugs that are believed to have entered through the border.

Most of the cases have been recorded in Igoumenitsa via land and sea routes, but seizures have also taken place in Ioannina, Thessaloniki, and Kastoria.
