Major operation in Greece, police find Albanian money among a drug plantation

A large cannabis plantation hidden in a forested area in Corinth has been discovered and destroyed by Greek police, while Albanian lek banknotes were also found at the scene, an element that authorities say may be linked to individuals involved in the activity.

According to the police, the plantation contained 336 cannabis seedlings, from which around 168 kilograms of marijuana could have been produced, with a market value reaching up to 504,000 euros.

During the operation, 2.2 kilograms of ready-made marijuana were also seized, along with a tent allegedly used by the plantation guards, food and drink supplies, as well as agricultural tools and chemical fertilizers used for cultivating the plants.

Greek authorities state that the plantation was well hidden deep inside the forest area and was supplied with water through a special irrigation system installed to keep the cultivation running.

One person has been charged in connection with the case, while investigations continue to identify other suspected individuals involved in this illegal activity.
