Maliqi kicked off their campaign in the best possible way yesterday. Although it was officially Week 2 of the Second Division, Maliqi had a bye in the opening round, so they began their season at home with a 3–2 win over Delvina a team that had thrashed Devolli 4–1 just a week earlier.
It was a victory with a distinct African flavour, as a brace from Ghanaian Richard Offei and a goal from Ibrahim secured Maliqi’s first three points of the season.
The coming weeks will reveal more about the true form of this Maliqi side, but starting off with a win is certainly a good omen that this season might look very different for them.
Yesterday’s official club statement read:
Fantastic Richard Offei — the Ghanaian midfielder completes his personal brace.
Maliqi 3–1 Delvina
Scorers: Offei 17’, 47’, Ibrahim 41’ / Agolli 51’ (own goal)
Even with 10 men from the 36th minute, we remained superior in play.
