“Match-fixing happens even in Serie A and La Liga, so imagine in Albania,” says captain Zguro: Expect a fierce Pogradec in the Superiore

Pogradec captain Vangjel Zguro is optimistic and believes his team will secure promotion to the top tier with four games remaining in the season. In a live interview on the show “Mega Sport,” Zguro said that match-fixing happens even in Serie A and La Liga, and promised a fearsome Pogradec if they reach the Superiore.

“With all my heart, I say Pogradec will enter the Superiore, but the field will decide. We still have four games, and if we win them all, we’re automatically in the top division.

The toughest match is Laçi-Pogradec in Laç. What Laçi does is their business; my focus is on my team. Football is unpredictable, we’ll go there and try. I have respect for Shensoin, as he was my former coach. We go for three points, and I believe we can achieve it. Laçi will also find it tough against us.

All three teams have had excellent seasons, and Laçi and Skënderbeu deserve credit. Our team is ahead of Laçi and Skënderbeu, and I think we deserve a bit more, because of our results. We drew in Laç, won at home, and against Skënderbeu, we lost in Pogradec but won in Korçë. We still have another home game against them.

I don’t know Laçi’s or Skënderbeu’s budgets exactly, but as a former Skënderbeu captain, I know roughly, and I think our team has the highest budget in this category. Our president is doing everything possible to promote us to the Superiore, and together we will reward his efforts for our city.

Winning at Laçi’s field is easier than against a Superiore team via the play-offs. Laçi will have difficulties because their players are younger than ours.

Regarding match-fixing, you talk about Pogradec-Laçi, but we’ll go and prove ourselves on the field—it will show the truth.

During the national team week, Elbasani drew with Skënderbeu, we drew with Struga. The level of Albanian football is either 5 or 0; focus is everything, one moment can decide the match. The top three teams in the First Division are at a Superiore level.

If Pogradec makes it to the Superligë, it will be a very fearsome team. Once we get promoted, we won’t just pass through; we’ll be a pleasant surprise. You’ll see what happens with the team.
