Brazilian volleyball player Ferreira, who was suspended by the Federation amid major debates about her gender, has spoken more about how she learned of the decision and how she felt afterward, describing the whole situation as “complete madness.”

Nayara, appearing on the show “Girls and Women,” said she was shocked by the suspension, even though her family and friends have been by her side supporting her.

“The situation was really difficult, and it was hard for them too; they didn’t know how to explain it to me. The club came and told me: ‘We have this situation, and you are suspended.’ The club president told me. I was shocked. It was the first time something like this had happened to me in my life.

My family and friends are with me; they support me. My mom cried over this situation because she understood that this is complete madness. I was 12 years old when I started playing volleyball. To be honest, I’ve only been here for three months, and now I find myself in this situation. I ask myself if I am safe in this place. I feel shocked and wonder why I deserved this. I also think about girls all over the world,” she said.
