A 4.6 magnitude earthquake has struck Iran, according to reports from Iranian state media.

The seismic tremor was recorded near the border between the Tehran and Mazandaran provinces, close to the city of Pardis, at around 11:46 PM local time.

According to preliminary data, the earthquake had a depth of 10 kilometers.

So far, no casualties or material damage have been reported, while authorities continue to monitor the situation.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 is generally considered light to moderate and, although it can be felt across a wide area, it usually causes limited damage.

The tremor comes at an extremely tense moment for Iran, which has been facing military escalation and growing tensions with the United States and Israel for weeks.
