PHOTO ALBUM/ Thousands of people at Mokra n’Fest as the 7th edition celebrates the region’s traditions, songs, dances, and cuisine

The 7th edition of Mokra n’Fest and the people of Mokra successfully highlighted the region’s values, traditions, hospitality, generosity, culture, history, and the fact that its people know how to celebrate.

The 7th edition brought together everything from the history of the stone of Mokra and the spectacular landscapes of the area to the centuries-old toast, traditional cuisine, handicrafts, songs, dances, and even water sports.

Thousands of people attended the celebration, which brought together residents of the Mokra region, emigrants, as well as visitors from other parts of the country.

The name Mokër derives from the fact that the area once had many watermills used to grind grain. An interesting figure is Shefqet Lushka, who preserves more than 400-year-old millstones that were once used to grind flour.

From the traditional wedding toast of Mokra and the welcoming of guests to the songs of men and women, the event showcased the region’s ancient traditions and placed them at the center of the celebration.

Meanwhile, alongside promoting Mokra as an authentic destination, Pogradec Mayor Ilir Xhakolli emphasized the importance of the investments that have already been made and those planned for the future.

Beyond traditions and folklore, Mokra n’Fest is also a day of reunion and return for residents who have moved to other parts of Albania or abroad. Several months ago, the Ministry of Tourism named the festival the second-best event in Albania for the promotion of traditions.
