SERIOUS INCIDENT / Attacked by a shark, 30-year-old in critical condition

A man in his thirties is in critical condition after being attacked by a shark in Western Australia, local emergency services reported.

The incident happened shortly after 10:00 a.m. local time on the coast of Rottnest Island, near the city of Perth.

According to authorities, a rescue helicopter was immediately dispatched to the area following the alarm, while island police and emergency response teams also took part in the operation.

“The rescue helicopter is there, along with island police and emergency services,” a spokesperson for St John Ambulance Australia told AFP.

So far, no further details have been released regarding the victim’s condition or the circumstances surrounding the attack.
