A serious incident of violence has been reported on the Greek island of Salamina, where a 30-year-old Greek woman was attacked and brutally beaten by four men of Turkish origin.

According to Greek media reports, the suspects, aged 18, 20, 40 and 50, assaulted the woman for reasons that have not yet been disclosed by the authorities. Witnesses said her cries for help could be heard throughout the port area.

“We heard noise and immediately went outside. We saw a woman running and screaming for help. Shortly afterwards, the police arrived and detained the four men,” a witness told local media.

After managing to escape from her attackers, the 30-year-old woman took shelter in a nearby café, where she received first aid. Coast Guard officers arrived at the scene, intervened to rescue her, and escorted the four suspects.

The injured woman was later transported to a hospital in Athens. Doctors said she suffered minor physical injuries but remains in a fragile psychological condition following the attack.

The four suspects, who are permanent residents of Salamina, appeared before the Central Port Authority of Piraeus to give their statements.

They were later released with the obligation to appear again on June 18, while charges of grievous bodily harm have been filed against them.
