Skënderbeu continues preparations for the new season, Ahmataj trains with an XXL squad, but with one major absence

Skënderbeu returned to the training ground today to continue preparations for the 2026-2027 season, now knowing its league fixture schedule, under the guidance of new head coach Julian Ahmataj. He took charge of the team following the departure of Ernest Gjoka and will lead the club in its return to the top flight.

Ahmataj's first task will be rebuilding the squad, as Skënderbeu has experienced numerous departures as well as several new arrivals. A total of 34 players took part in today's training session, including nine African footballers.

Many of these players are currently on trial, with the coach keen to assess them in action before deciding whether they should be part of the squad for the upcoming season.

Despite the large turnout in training, the most notable absence was that of Egyptian striker Saleh Nasr. He has yet to travel to Albania, although the club expects him to arrive in the coming days.
