Strong earthquake strikes Greece; here is the reported magnitude

A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 struck on the morning of Friday, March 20, affecting the city of Ioannina and the wider Epirus region in Greece.


The quake was felt more intensely due to its very shallow depth, estimated at just 20.3 km.


According to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens, the epicenter was located 10 kilometers north-northeast of Agia Kyriaki.


The tremor occurred at 11:05 local time and lasted long enough to alarm residents in the Ioannina basin and surrounding areas.
