A Jet2 flight with around 220 passengers on board made an emergency landing in Porto, Portugal, after the pilot suffered a heart attack during the flight from Tenerife to Birmingham.
According to reports, the incident occurred while the aircraft was at cruising altitude, causing concern among passengers. The crew immediately requested medical assistance on board, while the co-pilot took control of the aircraft and began an emergency descent.
Some passengers reported moments of panic on board, with shaken travelers, crying children, and flight attendants asking if there was a doctor among the passengers.
The plane landed safely at Porto Airport at around 02:11 in the morning. The pilot was immediately taken to hospital for treatment, while passengers were later transported to the UK on another flight.
Jet2 stated that passenger safety was never compromised at any point and apologized for the disruption, also offering free changes for future bookings.
