A tragic incident has shaken the Italian city of Piacenza, where a young Albanian woman lost her life after falling from a height near her home.
The victim is Anxhela Byku, 20 years old, who died in hospital after suffering severe injuries from a fall of about eight meters into the courtyard of the apartment building where she lived, on Via Beverora.
According to local Italian media, authorities suspect it was a tragic accident, not an intentional act or the result of third-party involvement. Investigations into the circumstances of the incident are being carried out by the Carabinieri.
The young woman, known by relatives and friends as “Angi,” was found lying in the building’s courtyard by a neighbor on Tuesday morning in very serious condition. She was immediately transported to the hospital but did not survive her injuries.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the 20-year-old had been cooking at home when she was distracted by the doorbell and stepped outside the apartment without taking her keys with her. After finding herself locked out and unable to get back inside, she is believed to have attempted to climb the building’s facade by holding onto the railings in order to reach the balcony of her apartment on the second floor.
During this attempt, she is believed to have lost her balance and fallen, suffering fatal injuries.
