Pogradec Castle remains one of the most important historical and tourist attractions in southeastern Albania, attracting local and foreign visitors every year who are interested in history, culture, and its unique panorama.

Edi Rama today shared images on social media from the Castle of Pogradec, located above the city on the southwestern side of Lake Ohrid. The fortress dates back to the 5th century BC.

The Castle of Pogradec has become a preferred destination for tourists, especially during the spring and summer season, becoming part of cultural and historical tours in southeastern Albania.

Visitors who climb up to the castle have the opportunity to enjoy the panoramic view of the city of Pogradec and Lake Ohrid, which is protected by UNESCO, while also learning about the history and traditions of the area.

This castle is considered one of the genuine Illyrian settlements, meaning it was once a small city and perhaps one of the most important administrative centers of the region during the Illyrian period. Today, only part of the wall remains preserved, but it continues to stand as a destination of cultural value and breathtaking views.
