Strong earthquake tremors were recorded on Sunday afternoon in Greece, also being clearly felt in Athens and surrounding areas.
According to preliminary data, the first earthquake was recorded with a magnitude of 4.3 on the Richter scale, followed a few minutes later by a stronger tremor reaching a magnitude of 5.3.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Mandoudi Evia area, near Chalkida, while the shallow depth of around 5 kilometers caused the tremors to be felt across a wide area, including the Greek capital.
According to the Athens Geodynamic Institute, a total of three seismic shocks were recorded, with magnitudes of 4.3, 4.8, and 5.3 on the Richter scale.
Despite the intensity of the tremors and the concern among residents, authorities have not reported any material damage or injuries so far. Relevant institutions continue to monitor the situation to assess any possible consequences of the seismic activity.
